Very thankful we found this gem of a veterinary office!
I have been going to Old Town for years. Had 3 cats, 2 have since past, but all received the best care from the staff at Old Town. Dr Jarvis is our primary, but on emergency occasions we have seen others, and still treated like rock stars! When I walk in, I feel like an episode of Cheers, they really do know you and your animal by name.
As a former AKC exhibitor, trainer, handler, I want a vet I can trust to listen to my observations of what I see happening with my animals. During times of distress emotions always control our logical judgement. Our pets are our kids and we want the best we can get for them. The staff and the doctors at Oldtown Veterinary Hospital have always been friendly, and compassionate towards our pets. I particularly prefer Dr. Gates for her compassion when we lost our 15 year old Westie.
I've had pets all of my and have never experienced such an amazing vet. My family and I feel so lucky to have such a caring, competent and responsive veterinary hospital in our neighborhood. We have cats and we have dogs and this practice has never failed to make us feelike our pets are the center of the universe. They work patiently with owners to explain injuries, ailments, treatments and costs so that we can make the beat decisions for our family. We are especially grateful for Dr. Shannon Jarvis whose heart is too big for her body and whose commitment to excellence is apparent in all she does. Trust OTVH with your furry family members!
Additionally, the front desk receptionists are friendly and know our dog by name. Sherry has often squeezed us in and guided us in times of need!
Can't say enough about Old Town Vet! We are thankful for the honest and trustworthy advice that Dr. Jarvis has given us through the years. When our first dog was ill, we sought her advice as a second opinion and appreciated her honesty and referral to a specialist. She was super supportive when it was time to let that dog finally go, which is never an easy decision. Now that we have a new furry friend, we still think she's the best!
Gates is fabulous there so if you go asked for her!
We have been going here for 20+ years and have always been happy until yesterday We had a new (to us) doctor perform surgery on one of our dogs. Dr. Jarvis's bedside manner is horrible!! After the surgery and the estimate we received, she added $100 for pathology, which I had requested be included in the estimate. Then she had the nerve to question how we would pay. I was furious and it was a good thing she spoke to my husband and not me! It was also a good thing she was NOT there when we arrived too or she would have gotten a piece of my mind! We have 10 dogs, most rescued, and have always paid our bill! They are one of the highest priced offices in Winston-Salem, but I have always loved the service we have received. I have requested that we NEVER have her again, but will be searching for a new office also! Dr.
