Going out of business, pretty much void of any thing I'd be interested in buying now, unless the items were discounted far more than they currently are (20-50%).
I hate to see any business go out of business. But I hate more when a business lies to their customers. Been watching a couple prices on a few things, store is 40 to 70 off now and two of the things I have been watching are now higher in price, others are within a few dollars when they were 20 percent off but now are 40 percent off. Do not lie to your customers. Maybe this is the reason they are going out of business.
Even though the store is closing the staff is helpful. It's clean and organized. The discounts are good on since items just watch the starting price. Clothing is really picked over and all the popular sizes are already gone. Hubs and ammo have a small discount but u don't think enough of one yet.
It's obvious that some camping merchandise was pulled out of the store when the camping items hit the 20% discount mark. (For example Eno hammocks and accessories). These are items that are rarely discounted much and they likely sold these as a lot to a liquidator or will be selling online for higher profit than at 20+% off to the public. Considering the number they had in stock just 2 days earlier, this is the only explanation. I've also noticed new low quality products showing up in the store that weren't there before, probably Chinese, super low cost items purchased by the company who is liquidating gander mountain assets and are intent on using the stores to peddle junk at high profits while they can.
I worked here and was also a shopper. As a workplace I can't say it was that great. The wages were not competitive at all and after you started getting commission you stopped getting raises. As a outdoors store its nice but I feel like Bass Pro and the others do a better job.
I won't be back until the store is rebooted as Gander Outdoor.
Always love going to Gander MTN. I am not from the area but I live here now. I went in to pick up some small fishing items but a guy at the gun counter and I started talking about fishing. Long story short he gave me some great tips on where to go locally and even showed me some great resources online. Great experience, much appreciated.
