When I called report the issue, I was informed by the person on the phone that the reason the shrimp smelled “fishy” is because I requested the entree to be spicy???
They have wonderful food and large portions for reasonable price. Service is a little slow at times but I never gotten my food faster any where else. Sandy the owner is a great host!
Sampan's is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the Triad. Sandy is like a machine. Owner, server and sometimes chef, she can often remember what you ate the last time you were there. Food is superb, atmosphere is quiet and usually peaceful even when it's bustling. Don't let the 70s decor desuade you from giving this hidden gem a try.
If I could rate this experience lower than 1 star I would. After reading all of the rave reviews I had high expectations. I ordered shrimp fried rice and requested that they make it spicy. I got home, opened the container and was immediately greeted by a strong “fishy” odor.
My wife and I enjoyed our first trip here. We will be going again. Enjoyed sitting down and eating unlike alot of the take out places.
I am not certain if many of the 5 star reviews are paid/prompted reviews or complete by individuals connected to this establishment; however, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT EAT HERE!
I do not know how this place got any good reviews. It was terrible. My wife got beef that was inedible. My cashew chicken was nothing but tasteless fat. The only good thing was the rice. My step daughter got sesame chicken which had a good flavor but made her nauseous after she ate it. None of us can get the tastes from our mouths and the service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter slammed our cups on the table and gave us hot canned drinks, never smiling once and mumbling rather than speaking clearly. We could not even get refills or refunds for food that we could not even take two bites of.
Additionally, after driving back to pick up the new entree that was less in price I was not refunded the difference? It was 6:00PM on a Saturday, and second entree tasted as if it was prepared in burnt oil that had been reused far past its prime.
