This is a nice park with a nice playground. There is a homeless problem in the park though so it can feel a bit unsafe at times. This is definitely not a place I would want to be at night. Sometimes a guy drives his moped through here on the sidewalk.
Love Washington Park! Been playing softball here for almost 15 years. Dog park is also very popular along with the biking trail!
It's mostly always filled with poop. Apparently people can not read the signs to pick up after your dog. But other than that it's a great place to hang with the family
We go for the dog park, and have specifically used the large dog area. It's one of the nicer dog parks I've been to, with several picnic tables somewhat centrally located and shaded by multiple trees, large grassy areas, a large sandy area, and running water with a fountain in the picnic table area. There is generally a stainless steel bowl left near the water, or you can bring your own. There are poop bags provided just outside the enclosed areas, and owners seem to do a decent job picking up the poop (I still watch where I walk and it's not perfect, but it's better than most I've seen). We've gone on different days of the week and have encountered predominantly conscientious dog owners that watch their dog(s) and intervene as needed.
Though we haven't been in the small dog area, it looks like it has plenty of room and also has a shaded area with picnic tables. We've never seen many visitors during our visits.
We love this playground. Lots of shade. Best for older children, though our 2 year old has fun too. The younger ones just need a little more supervision.
