Playground is great - though I wish there was a structure separating the big kid playground from the toddler playground. It's also always in the sun.
Lovely place for families and children. Great place for walking biking or jogging. Can't wait to find time for a picnic or to fly kites with my kids.
When visiting Hanes Park we are heading straight for the playground with our children. The playground is good for kids of many different ages as there is play equipment meant for both under 5's and elementary ages. The 3 story tall slides on the "big kid" equipment get a big thumbs us from my 4 year old. There are both strap swings and bucket swings avaliable to play on as well as bouncy animals and a sit and spin chair. For the kid who loves nature there is a creek with bridges to cross and lots grass to run in. The only con to this place is that there is no baby changing station in the bathrooms, but they are kept reasonably clean despite being open to the public most of the day.

Hanes Park sits at the bottom of the hill at historic West End. There are several entrances as the park is bordered by several streets and is a long oblong shape with a stream running thru it with several bridges to cross the creek. It has a few top notch playgrounds mixed in along with many tennis courts and a running track. It also bavks up to RJ Reynolds High School. The walking paths are evenly elevated and a very easy walk. Highly recommend.
