My husband and I just stayed at the Inn for our anniversary when we visited Old Salem. This In gets a three star rating from us for several reasons: The Inn has both a very hospitable staff and excellent location, but the room in which we stayed and breakfast was lacking. The Inn is located right off Main street and straight across from the Tavern restaurant, which was a huge selling point for us!!! Also, the staff were very nice. Our room was very clean, bed made well, but the mattress was as stiff as a board and the bathroom was severely outdated with peeling paint. The breakfast was nothing more than basic motel fare, tasteless "sausage", biscuits, other various breads, fruit salad, yogurt, and coffee/juices. So overall, this was nothing fancy, but a decent place to stay for a night if you don't care about sleeping on a hard mattress.
This is a beautiful historic old home. Linda was easy to work with over the phone and made us feel very welcome when we arrived. Harriet fixed a great breakfast and was very interesting to talk to. We really enjoyed our stay there.
The Zevely Inn is a wonderful B&B, historical and very clean. The Innkeeper and staff were very accommodating and polite (sorry Californians you just have to learn to adjust to EST) and made us feel very welcomed. Breakfast was home made and very good. We really liked the location and walked most of Old Salem. I will certainly keep it in mind for friends and our next trip to the Winston Salem area. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Historic building in historic Old Salem, bed rooms were very nice, spacious and the common areas were well decorated and authentic. Two levels out back to sit on and relax. If I were just reviewing on the building itself would give it 5 stars but it is a Bed and Breakfast. Breakfast has a lot to be desired. On the first day a Saturday they served scrambled eggs, sausage and rolls. Nothing special, nothing fantastic but something one could find walking into any diner. Sunday breakfast was better with a larger meal set out that included a very good French Toast. It was the only thing that stood out.
This place is my number 1 choice when staying in Old Salem! The place is cozy and the rooms very comfortable! You can tell that the owner has impeccable taste. The furnishing and paintings are true to the overall look and historic feel of the place, but it also feels like a home! It's all in the details, folks! I thought the breakfast was delicious and very well served. The location is absolutely perfect and convenient to everything. I've been to a lot of B&Bs around the country and this one was one of the very best and most memorable experiences!
