After doing extensive research on hermit crab care, my daughter and I decided to get hermit crabs. We set up our tank with heat mats, proper humidity, one fresh water pool, one salt water pool, driftwood and 6 inches of sand. We had read that hermit crabs require humidity/heat/places to climb & hide and company! So we were disappointed to find that the hermit crabs at Pet Supermarket offered none of these things to the crabs they were selling! There was no water in their enclosure --- just a damp sponge. (In nature, hermit crabs live next to warm, sunny beaches...they don't drink out of damp sponges.) When I asked if we could see the hermit crabs, we were alarmed when they were cold and did not move. The employee simply told us we could drop them in water and they would come out of their shells. Sadly, none of the crabs came out...they were dead. The employee didn't seem too concerned...he just said they would get a new shipment next week. This was upsetting to my daughter, who was so looking forward to getting hermit crabs. It also bothered me that they did not know how to properly care for the hermit crabs in their care, and that they did not have heat/humidity or water. I tried to explain to the staffer that hermit crabs need water (not just a wet sponge" and he only offered that they misted them once a week. I asked if I could speak to a manager, but he said he wasn't working. So I simply asked if he could give the crabs some water and warm up the tank - he said he would. When we came back the following day - the crabs still did not have water. No changes were made. How can a pet store sell pets - but not know how to take care of them? Will never go to this store again.

Has everything you could need for your pets. Can even special order freshwater fish!

I went to the store today to purchase a bird, particularly a parakeet. The man at the register was assisting me and when I asked questions he could not answer, he asked Caleb. Caleb knew about parakeets and helped me select 2 of them that were the most tame birds. (Prior to coming to the store, I had researched is 2 parakeets better than one and the answer was 2 due to socialization.)

I go here pretty often to see the pets they have. Some of their animals are babies and are adorable! The staff have been kind every time I go here but there almost always different people working. The people that I've talked to know the animals well. My only problem is the high prices.

Awful! I went in looking for some fish and after waiting by the tanks for 15 minutes, I finally had to walk up to the counter and ASK FOR ASSISTANCE! The three young adults seemed perturbed that I had interrupted their conversation and when one young man FINALLY strolled over to help me, he was uninterested and cold. I felt like I had to hurry up and get what I wanted so he could return to his conversation. When I asked basic questions about the fish I wanted (such as: proper water temperature, compatibility with other types of fish, feeding requirements...) he didn't seem to know the answer and acted as if it was too much of a bother to go and ask someone who might know. When I inquired about some of the dead fish floating in the tanks, he acted as if he hadn't noticed them. The lack of concern, several dead fish floating in the tanks and the poor customer service just turned me off. I have several aquariums, 2 dogs, 2 cats and 1 bird...and would have been a "worthwhile customer." I saw lots of good products on the shelves that I was interested in and would have purchased - but after this visit, I just wasn't interested in shopping there. I left Pet Supermarket and drove all the way to the other side of town to Pet Supplies Plus. The drive was definitely worth it. I received wonderful customer service and healthy fish...and even spent more than $300 on pet food and pet supplies! The silver lining is, the bad experience at Pet Supermarket lead me to find a different pet store that I am very happy with.

Rather than up sale me on products, Caleb showed me different options and recommendations. Now I have 2 little birds in my office snoozing, waiting to go home to their new home. I know my daughter will be so happy to have these two as birthday presents.
