My 16 month son got really sick on us when we was in Winston Salem viewing the Tanglewood lights. We knew he had a awful cough but that was nothing till we was half through the lights when my son took the turn for the worst. We was only 10 minutes away from the children hospital in Winston Salem. So we took him there to get checked out. We waited like two hours before they took us back. Once we got taken back we waited another hour and half before a PA came in. She was like clueless. She didn't know what she was talking about. She took x-rays of my son chest and told us he didn't have pneumonia and sent us home. Less than 24 hours later my son fever was almost 102 and I couldn't get it to break and took him to his regular doctor and was told he had crackling and his lungs and wheezing in both lungs. And still running a fever close to 102. And told us he had pneumonia. As I said I don't think the PA at this hospital knew what she was doing and it sad we never saw a MD. My son could have been on the road to recovery if she just knew what she was doing. That makes me a Furious mother and will not be returning to this childerns hospital I will drive my son to Charlotte next time.
My daughter was in the preemie area. Top notch service. The kind of place that you trust with your infant. She received the BEST care from the men and women there, and I would recommend this place to anyone!
I wish I would have never brought my son to this hospital. I saw the great reviews and decided to give this hospital a try, and I was referred by my primary physician, so I thought it would be great. WRONG! The only nice and caring people at this hospital are the people who work at the front desk. The doctors are rude and the nursing assistants need more training and are ruder than the doctor. I waited for over 2 hours to be seen. This is supposed to be a children's hospital, but there were no toys or activities to keep children entertained while they wait. I was waiting with a woman whose child was bleeding, and she had been waiting longer than I was. A little boy and his family entered the hospital, and within 15 minutes, he was registered and seen while others had been waiting. In order to be seen, the woman had to go to the nurse's station and ask what the difference was between her child and the little boy. Right after this incident, her child's name was called for her to be seen. Not playing a race card, but hey, it's the truth. The child that was bleeding and her mother were black, and the boy and his family who were seen in approximately 15 minutes were white. Overall, this hospital needs to be more kid-friendly and teach their doctors and nurses aids a few things in the empathy and caring department. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN.
Parking is horrible. No matter how much i try to get early to appointments I amalways late cause of parking! You literally have to arrive 45mt-1hr prior your appointment to find a parking. Dr did not want to see my son because of this! Got to parking at 950a did not get in to the dr lobby till 1022!!!!!
We found our time and stay at Brenner's very comfortable and cared for. All the staff were happy to help, very caring and compassionate, and we could tell they loved their job. On the 8th floor of the Ardmore Tower, Mrs. Gina's hospitality is unbeatable! Dr.'s Ravish and Frino were excellent and we could tell that our daughter was in good hands. All in all we Praise JESUS for the care we received at Brenner's.
